Not Today...

I was speaking with someone today and they asked for my opinion. This person says she is a Christian. The situation we spoke of was this: A person had went to a job fair, clearly marked on an application that he had been convicted of a felony and he was hired for the job as a temp. After being hired they had forms that needed to be filled out and signed. On one of the aforementioned forms there was a question on if they had been convicted of any felony in the last four years (which he had) and it went on to mention any violent crime and that they would not be able to be hired if they had. He thought it was speaking of only violent felonies and marked that he had not. The question she asked me was, should he call and explain the situation and ask if that disqualifies him for the job. I clearly thought the answer was obvious and said that he should. However, this was not the response the person was looking for. She felt if it would jeopordize his chance at the job in any way he should hold off on telling them until he could 'get his foot in the door' and hopefully change the mind of the company regarding this policy. This totally shocked me. The aforementioned person also has an active warrant out for his arrest in a different state which cannot be acted upon unless he goes back to the tri-state region so he is in effect, running from the law. The point of me putting this here is that I made the comment that she didn't seem to want to hear what the right thing was...to which she responded - not today I don't.

Oh, how sad this is to me!
